Searching Preconfigured Driver Folders
When I plug it into the USB Port windows vista says it is searching in preconfigured driver folders. That dissappears then another window pops up with the title 'Found New Hardware' with 3 options: Locate and install Driver(recommended), 'ask me again later' and 'Don't show this message again for this device'. The solution for the 'searching for preconfigured drivers' problem is very simple. You cannot get just any random USB cable. This is what is causing that box to show up and stay in the first place. Note: Windows 7 will automatically search preconfigured driver folders for the proper driver, this process may take several minutes to complete. Do not interrupt this process. Insert the driver CD. Close AutoPlay if prompted. In the Search programs and files box, type D: setup.exe, press. 2 thoughts on “ How To: Make a preconfigured Xerox Print Driver ” FroStar December 24, 2013. I guess this doesn’t work anymore? Have had a few Xerox analysts and myself trying it on 7855 and 5855 models with most recent drivers, but to no avail. After installing the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, restart your computer.
Windows 7 x64 is 'searching preconfigured folders' for 10-20 minutes after pluging any basic USB device - flash stick, mouse, keyboard. The installing drivers shows up. The small circles are rotating for minutes and minutes.
I'm find an issue on some machines I administer where, upon plugging in a USB device, Windows takes forever 'searching preconfigured driver folders' for the device driver. This includes USB disks, which I would imaging should be quite fast. Illformed glitch 2 free. I have configured the machines not to use Windows Update to look for the drivers, which sped things up on some machines, but it still seems to be taking way too long to recognise a simple USB device. Once installed, re-plugging the same device into the same USB port is very fast, but plugging it into a different port on the same machine gets the same issue. The C:WindowsSystem32DriverStore directory weighs in at almost 1 GB - not too much bigger than a clean install on that machine type (830 MB) (a clean windows install on this hardware installs devices super-fast).
Any ideas/pointers?
