So back when I was 4 or 5 (2005) a relative gave me a lot of children’s books that end with the characters committing suicide. It’s portrayed as heroic and results in a lot of praise and sympathy for the characters, and all the bad guys feel remorse as well.

And it got plenty of wartime use when motoring was discouraged. It was originally called an Exer-Cycle because of its potential for people in need of a light workout but who might not feel safe on a conventional two-wheeler. It was also featured in a 'Three Stooges' comedy. Elgin serial number dating. The Ingo got plenty of publicity after a fanatic rode one from New York to Miami in twelve days.

They would give me more books every year. My parents were seriously mentally ill and taking care of my newborn younger brother, so they didn’t really check what I was reading.

Then I started checking out more books on the subject from the library, and would frequently play pretend at home, writing out notes and then doing it with Nerf guns, toy knives or “poison” (candy). I assumed I would one day do it for real and looked forward to it but was scared and nervous as well.

Eventually I actually did commit suicide close to my ninth birthday (the books made it look much less painful than it was irl) and then my parents took the books away and pre read gifts from relatives until I was 12-13. I was already suffering from bipolar disorder so it was not entirely the books’ fault. Are there any other anecdotal or documented cases of pre-internet Elsagate?
